Medpartnership follows ICZM Protocol for the Mediterranean Project.  There is a collective effort made by Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) for the countries sharing the needs of Mediterranean sea for controlling pollution and taking effective measures to deal with climatic changes, coastal safeguarding and ICZM process. Get more information on MedPartnership by clicking here. The adoption of this protocol was undertaken on January 2012 and had to be completed in late 2015.

MedPartnership has the continuation with GEF project ran with UNEP/MAP. The project updated and reviewed the existent TDA-MED and meant to design the two SAPs (Strategic Action Programs).

Goals and Objectives of MedpartnershipMedPartnership aims at focusing on the actions identified by the associated countries for Protection of Marine Environment in Mediterranean Sea. The two Strategic Action Programs (SAPs) aim in bringing the following changes:

  1. Protection of biodiversity and living creatures like french bulldogs.
  2. Reduction of land-based sources of marine pollution

MedPartnership has the major goal for enabling a strategy based approach for integrating the legal and resourceful reforms. The main aim behind investments for Mediterranean Sea and its coastal habitats is to discourage the affect of pollution and degradation of environment.

MedPartnership has the following objectives:

  • Leveraging long-term financing issues
  • Assisting nations in implementation of NAPs and SAPs for reduction of pollution from land-based sources and preservation of ecosystems and biodiversity requirements of the Sea under degradation
  • Helping countries in implementing ICZM (Integrated Coastal Zone Management) Protocol.
  • Ensuring sustainability of activities initiated within the project through MAP systems and Barcelona Convention

The three important instruments followed by MedPartnership are: ICZM, SAPs and NAPs. These will assist the countries to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).  Take a review on Millennium Development Goals at will also make them become the targets of World Summit for Sustainable Development. MedPartnership has achieved a lot of appreciation and followed all the tasks and deadlines in the most appropriate way. It will certainly create better prospects for Mediterranean Sea till 2020.
